Periodically during the summer, MITA schedules work parties of volunteers to help with projects on the islands that are too big to tackle on cleanups or during monitoring runs. Work parties range in size from a few people to more than a dozen, depending on the scope and nature of the project. Past projects have included the construction of rock steps to stabilize island access points, building/repairing tent platforms and privies, trail clearing, invasive species control, campsite creation, and the removal of large, bulky items from the islands.

How to Sign Up

Island work projects are scheduled as needs arise. Check the calendar during the summer for dates and sign up instructions.
